Tides: You will need to read all this article as the answer has many facets. The National Tide Authority at Flinders University South Australia presently is the only source of tidal information for Australia on the internet that we know of and we are not able to duplicate it here because of copyright. Sorry about that, but we have done our best to save you the hassle of having to find this out and have provided you with a link to their site. (we are endevouring to find a different source so we can detail it here, thus save you the time) BUT before you do that we suggest that you read a little about tides and HOW to figure out their tables to save you alot of time. So here are some tips: Tides are a funny thing, depending on wave heights and the amount of sand on the beach, season etc they can have a totally different effect on how high they come up and where the water goes, so take all this information as a rough educated guess only. Places like "the Pass" lookout are especially effected by where the sand is, you can sometimes get to the lookout at high tide simply because the sand height blocks the water. There is no "Byron Bay or Ballina" reference at the national tide website but for Byron Bay use the time stated for "Fort Denison" and Ballina is very close to that time as well. Now for the really bad news...The national tide authority only put online the tide times for the coming week (7 days), so you will not be able to plan months in a advance. We suspect the reason for this is to maintain their income from tide time BOOKS. So if you wish to plan ahead you will need to go to a local newsagent or fishing shop to get the book, its generally bright yellow and cost around $4. Yes it would be easy for us to just copy that info onto this site but we would infringe thier copyright and we would get closed down.
